Nylon collars are a great option for your pet. With a variety of colors to pick from, you can match your pup’s personality. But what happens when your nylon collar starts to show wear and tear? Here are the dogIDs tips for caring for your nylon dog collar.
Nylon Collar Care
How to Set the Color of Your Nylon Collar
It’s always exciting to order a new collar for your best friend. dogIDs offers a variety of bright and vibrant collars for your pup, but bright colors tend to fade over time. We want to help you keep your collar looking brand new! Here is the dogIDs formula for setting the color of your collar:
- Mix 1 part room temp water, 1 part white vinegar, 1 tsp salt.
- Soak for 30 min – 1 hour.
- Take out, rinse with cold water, and lay flat to dry. This should keep the color vibrant!
It’s as simple as that!
How to Wash Your Nylon Collar
We all know that dreaded moment. You see your dog sniffing the ground and BOOM! they dive right onto their back and roll around in the smelliest muck they can find. As your dog proudly jogs back to you with their newest scent you start to countdown the minutes until bath time. Once you get your pup smelling fresh don’t forget about washing their nylon collar! To wash your nylon collar we recommend using a delicates garment bag in the washing machine, or to handwash your collar in a sink with dish soap. Be sure you lay the collar flat to dry.
How to Fix A Frayed Collar
Are you starting to notice some fraying on the edge of your collar? Over time nylon can start to show the wear and tear. To get rid of fraying or a loose string all you will need is a lighter! Quickly run a flame from the lighter over the edge of your collar. Move the flame quickly to avoid leaving burn marks on your collar. If you have an orange or hot pink collar please note that colors may change under the flame but should return back to its normal color after a period of time.
